I'm starting to think we need to talk more about this whole professions and jobs thing making it more fun instead of just restricting people. Problem is, I don't know what the hell I should do with it to sacrifice independence for roleplay or roleplay consistency for independence. silent

As this is a role play, as long as its handled right, roleplay consistency for independence. Just make enough exciting places for people to explore so that they have more fun in the adventure then complaining they can't go through the daily grind.

It's all about being part of the story. I play Dungeons and Dragons and at my school I am the DM. My job of course is to find/make stories for the players to enjoy and add challenges for them to over come.

If the people "role-playing" on this server feel that they are important and/or are having an effect on the over all scheme of things then there will be only the problem of how well a person can role-play to begin with. My application for example. I, as a human being, would not bend my knee to some one I barely know and have had no real communication with, BUT me, in-game terms, would follow his leader and beliefs to the End for that is how I perceive my character would act if he, that is to say me, wanted to join the Ender Knights and become a "key" player in the world.

The game is simply an open ended story with an infinite amount of possibilities that form when the decisions of the players are made.

A: make the players "important/strategic" people in-game with a goal for their faction but only a limited sense of the other players goals. NPC's make useful villagers and townsfolk and will be much better with the 1.3 update. Spyware you in-game are the mortal leader of the Ender Knights who dictates the actions of the lesser members with authority. I could go on but that would impede on the imaginations of the moderators. If any one would like more, just ask and you will receive.

Maybe you're right, however - we'd simply be encouraging them to take stupid ass jobs like "adventurers" and all that. Making them feel important is a good thing - Soviet propaganda posters, anyone?

Add to the application or a new post a list of careers/positions. Each faction would emthasis different areas based on location and their cultures. The Dwarves would likely have a job specifically for Redstone while all other factions would include it in their architects responsiblities.

"Farmer" would include breeding and slaughter of animals as weel as farming.

"Architect" construction and designing of all buildings and walls. If there is a large number of workers in this feild they could be put into subcatagories such as Redstone, Aquatic, etc.

"Craftsman" their sole purpose is to keep a large store of materials for all other possisons. While crafting an item for a specific task such as farming is not necessary, they would keep exsess supplies in the event the farmer ran out or a new farmer needs to start. the craaftsman would also include backsmithing and lots of bookwork. (Also make a good go between for messages).

"Magic-User" Priest/cleric, Druid, Shaman, Adept, Warlock, Alcemist, Wizard, Sorceror, Wu Jen, and many more titles would fall under this category. Job: enchanting and "cheating" MODERATORS ONLY

"Miner" self-explanitory.

"Woodsman" lumberjack, semi-explore, and tree farmer all in one.

"Warrior" this is a very general term. Everyone is considered a warrior but the level differs from person to person. Warrior types change the weapons and armor acceptable for a person to weild. Generals and such would also be incharge of NPC armies. NOTE I have different games that could make fighting battles go by quicker and keep better casualty counts. I will include more info with in another post.

"Adventurer" This is NOT a carrer. Adventureing is a way of life and would be impossible to keep going during a mass multipalyer game online. One may "adventure" when given leave by your superior.
